Silvanos Yokojo- Juba
The Minister of Physical Infrastructure in the Central Equatoria State has accused the Bari community elders of obstructing his ministry’s duties.
Presenting a work plan to the Central Equatoria Legislative Assembly for the year 2007-2008, engineer Alikaya Aligo, urged the parliament and other stake holders to help his ministry negotiate for land from the local community for development.
He said that the Bari Community for unknown reasons has rejected a master plan for the development of Juba.
Engineer Aligo said there are over one hundred and twelve thousand families in the State expected to be housed, thirty one percent of them are in Juba.
Aligo appealed to the Government of Southern Sudan to exempt taxes on building materials; such as cement which is currently too expensive for the low income earners to afford.
The work plan was passed to a selected committee for further input after responses from the legislators.
