Reuter’s news agency reported that the British High Court has ruled on Wednesday that the British government can send people from Darfur back to Sudan if their claims for asylum are rejected, despite fears for their wellbeing due to the ongoing war in the region.
The House of Lords overruled the Court of Appeals, which decided in April that it would be "unduly harsh" to send three Darfuris asylum seekers to Sudanese refugee camps because of the oppressive conditions there.
The government appealed against that ruling, trying to reinstate the original ruling of an immigration tribunal that the three men could be sent back to Sudan.
The test case could affect up to one thousand Darfuris who have sought refuge in Britain.
