Wednesday, 07 November 2007
The Head of the International Office of Migration (IOM) in Juba, Mary Giduce, revealed that a survey aimed to voluntarily repatriate Internally Displaced People (IDPs) from Nimule town of Eastern Equatoria State to their areas of origin is complete.
Ms. Giduce said that the IOM and other partners will soon travel to Nimule to brief community elders and the local population about the repatriation process.
She said that the governments of south Sudan and the National Unity and the UN have agreed to a south-south move of the IDPs from Kajokeji, Nimule and Lobone.
"IOM will be registering approrximately two thousand people in Nimule for the remainder of 2007-that is to move before the end of 2007-should they voluntarily wish to move," said Ms. Giduce.
