The National Interim Assembly has passed the bill of the Sudan Armed Forces for the year 2007 in its reading amid disagreements by some parliamentary blocs over the manner of passing the act.
The deputy speaker of the National Interim Assembly, Atem Garang, said that the mechanical majority minimizes the national nature of the bill.
"We want the laws to be in agreement with the same opinions of the other parties, so that the national aspect of the law would be reflected," said Mr. Garang.
He said that some elements are trying to use their mechanical majority."To impose a law even without national features because you have the majority in the parliament, then you will not depend on others," said Garang.
The spokesman of the Democratic Alliances bloc in the Assembly, Suleiman Hamid, said that the law carries articles that will ease the separation of the south.
