Polio campaign targets 2.8 million children in south Sudan

The polio immunization campaign that reached Juba targeted to cover the remaining six states of south Sudan.
According to an official of the World Health Organization (WHO), the polio campaign targets 2.8 million children.
Miraya FM Susan Dokolo reported that the WHO Polio Program Coordinator, Dr. Afework Assefa, said that the polio campaign targets infants up to five year old children.
He said that the campaign which began last week that covered Warrap, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Western Bahr el Ghazal, and Unity States is yet to cover parts of the Lakes State, the Central Equatoria State and other States.
During the launch of the campaign, Nyokoron Primary Health Care Center was officially inaugurated by the acting Commissioner of Juba County, Albert Pitia.
The polio immunization campaign is being organized by the Ministry of Health in the government of south Sudan in collaboration with the WHO and UNICEF.
