Sudanese government and the Darfur rebels start closed talks in Sirte |

The Sudanese government and the Darfur Factions have started direct and closed talks in the Sirte town of Libya to formulate a timetable and agenda of discussions.
The UN envoy to Darfur, Jan Eliason, said that the meeting might come out with political recommedations to end the crisis in the region.
The spokesman of the government delegation to the Sirte talks, Zaid Hassan, sad meetings are continuing in amicable atmosphere and that there are no thoughts for postponing the talks.
"The two delegations met and they have started discussions about how to proceed with the talks and the subject which have priority in the talks," said Hassan.
He said that a complete agreement between the two delegations have been reached on how to move on with the talks.
He said that "we welcomed those who want to join the peace process".
