A Faction in the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) which is being headed by Ibrahim Azrag which participating in the Darfur peace talks in the Libyan town of Sirte has called for the right of self determination for the Darfur region.

This came in a statement of the movement during the opening sessions of the peace talks.

Miraya FM Abdel Hamid Awad el Karim reported that the proposal made by the JEM is that the movement said that it is because of the failure of all the efforts exerted to resolve the Darfur crisis.

However, Azrag sai dthat the rights for self determination will give the people of Darfur the right to rule themselves.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the African Union Nur Din el Mazni has criticized the Darfur Movements which are boycotting the peace talks.

"We as the African Union and the UN consulted all the parties in the last few weeks," said el Mazni.

He said that during the last Arusha meeting in Tanzania, intensive contacts have been enacted and meetings have been convened with the Darfurian leaders in various places including inside Darfur and the neighboring countries.

"We determined the time of these negotiations after a lot of contacts and hope to see that all the movements join the peace process," Mazni said.
