The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) accused government officials in south Sudan of facilitating the reverse return to refugees camps in Kenya.
Addressing the press during the UNHCR weekly briefing in Juba, the Deputy Representative in South Sudan, Bhairija Pandy stated that some unidentified officials in the GoSS give returnees traveling documents to go back to the camp in Kenya, which is a violation of the tripartite agreement among the Government of the National Unity, the Government of south Sudan and the UNHCR.
The UNHCR said in its weekly report on the voluntary return program that over two hundred and thirty four people have returned to south Sudan and the Blue Nile State within this month.
The accumulative number of people repatriated in south Sudan and the Blue Nile State totals up to more than one million and fifty eight thousand people.
