Thursday, 16 August 2007
The sale of fuel products along roads and residential areas in Juba town has been declared illegal with immediate effect. The acting Commissioner of Juba County, Mr. Albert Pitia, said that the ban on petrol, paraffin and diesel along the streets and in the residential areas is to reduce dangers and fire outbreaks. "We are considering these people as violators now, the order was out on the 9th and up to now," said Pitia. He said, "we sensitized the people from the 1st up to the 3rd by sultan Jambo". The commissioner said that up to now he still seeing the fuel being sold at the roads, streets, and the containers which are putted out in the residential areas "are giving out the fuel, and this is very dangerous we are going to close them down," he said. Those selling the fuel products had meanwhile complained that they are depending on the petrol and the diesel for their daily earnings.
