Local authorities in Malakal have issued new regulations for bars to curb the phenomenon of teenage drinking.

According to the new rules, bars are banned from opening before 6 PM and prohibited from selling alcohol to youngsters.

The acting commissioner of the locality, Peter Mayom, told Miraya FM that wine is being kept in cans hidden in plastic bags and sold for low prices.

Mayom said police hunts have resulted in the confiscation of 50 wine bags.
