polio.jpgA two day of a national campaign against polio is launch today and is targeting more than 5 million children nationwide. Speaking to Miraya FM the coordinator for the polio campaign, Dr. Amani Abdelazim, said the campaign is a precautionary measure against any polio threats spilling from neighboring Chad. Dr. Amani added that the cost of the campaign is three million dollars and UNICEF and the World Health Organization are funding the campaign. Amani added that there is currently no polio infections reported among children in the country.

"The campaign comes as a response to the two infectional cases reported in Chad, where more refugees are continually moving between Chad and Drafur," Dr. Amani told Miraya FM. She said that Sudan is one of the countries which had agreed on the international efforts on combating polio.
