The Sudanese government has condemned the report of the United Nations Human Rights criticizing Sudan of carrying out ethnic cleansing in Darfur. The UN report accuses the government of supporting the militias in Darfur which carries out the cleansing. Speaking to reporters the state minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al-Tijani Saleh Fadil, denied that the Sudanese government is supporting any militias in Darfur.
Fadil said that the report of the United Nations is just to exert more pressure on Sudan. The United Nations Human Rights Committee criticized Sudan for what it said a widespread and systematic violations of human rights in Darfur. The report condemned violations in Darfur including rape, murder, torture, discriminations against women, and attacks on civilians. The United Nations Human Rights Committee which comprises 18 independent experts, called on Khartoum to supporting militias which engage in ethnic cleansing.
