alexandria_university.jpgThe Egyptian government has said it will open a branch of its Alexandria University in Juba in the coming future. The director general for Higher and Tertiary Education in the Ministry of Education in the government of southern Sudan, Atem Kuir, said Egypt has in the past promised to open a University in Juba but the time and the date for the establishment of the University is yet to be known. "Well, I think it will be like the University of Cairo in Khartoum branch, but the details of how this university will be run is still not yet worked out, the government of southern Sudan and the government of Egypt are to work out the details," Kuir said. Kuir added, "the modalities and how to accept students to that university; we can not talk about the details at the moment". Meanwhile in a related development, Arabic pattern students at the University of Juba have complained about lectures being conducted in English. Reacting to the students complaints, Atem Kuir, said the University’s Administration will intensify the teaching of English so that the students can catch up with their lectures. Kuir added that the ministry of education has contracted a new company to provide quality meals to students at the university.
