The South Sudan Child Protection working group has convened a one-day workshop in Juba to discuss cases of child abduction and cattle raiding in Jonglei State.
Miraya FM Luka Athiel attended the workshop and filed this report; the workshop which brought together fifteen members of the South Sudan Child Protection working group is aimed at resolving child abduction and cattle raiding cases in the state. Over seventy-five of the participants who hailed from all over South Sudan pointed fingers at the Murle community for perpetrating the act. However, it was recommended that a conference for the chiefs of Murle and Dinka communities to be organized in Jonglei State to create awareness on the issue. The workshop was organized by UNICEF in collaboration with the South Sudan Child Protection working group.
