The First Vice- President of the Republic and the President of the government of southern Sudan , Salva Kiir Mayardit, opened today in Juba a national conference for Sudanese Women in Politics.The four-day conference  organized by the United Nations Development Program, will discuss the empowerment and promotion  of women’s participation in politics, and the Sudanese Women Movement, in addition to Women’s Mobilization strategy on the upcoming 2008 elections ,and the 2011 referendum in the context of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

 

 

 

 

The conference also discusses Women’s role in the public service, education,and  political parties, in addition to the role in eradicating literacy and poverty in Sudan . The conference will also be attended by the First Lady of south Sudan,the First Lady of South Africa , government officials, and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
