The Libyan assistant to the foreign minister in charge of African affairs, Dr. Ali Abdel Salem Triki, met President Al-Beshir, for discussions on how to ease the tension between Sudan and Chad. Dr. Tiriki said that during the meeting Sudan has agreed to calm the situation. Dr. Tiriki added that Sudan had agreed for the deployment of military observers from Libya and Eritrea to monitor its borders with Chad.
