The United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said more than 120 thousand people have fled the Somali capital, Mogadishu, due to the fighting between the Transitional government and the insurgents. UNHCR said the number of displaced people continues to increase daily; and decried the lack of access to the city and its surroundings due to the bloodshed that has severely hampered humanitarian agencies from responding to those in need. The UN agency estimated that there are about 400,000 internally displaced people in Somalia.
