The Political liaison officer, in the National Congress Party, said his party is expecting that the judges of the ICC will accept the Prosecutor General’s request to issue an arrest warrant for President Omer Al Bashir.
He also warned of what he described as possible security outlets against potential employees of the peace-keeping mission in Sudan if the warrant is issued.
Talking to Miraya Fm, the Political liaison officer said that they are committed to ensure the safety of the UN staff in the country.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Disarmament Demobilization, Rehabilitation and Reintegration commission in north Sudan, Dr. Sulaf el-Din Saleh, expressed his concern about the impact if the expected ICC decision to arrest President Basher, on the overall operations of disarmament of former combatants in the society.
Dr. Sulaf further added that the court’s decision, if issued, could paralyze the ability of the United Nations to operate in Sudan.
