The Spokesperson of the armed forces Brigadier Osman Al Aghbash has announced that the Sudanese armed forces have shot and killed six of the kidnappers, including a supposed Chadian leader of the group who abducted European tourists in Egypt last week.
Al Aghbash said the army captured two of the kidnappers.
SAF statement says that an armed force received orders to comb the areas of Mount Oweinat in search for the kidnapers who fled from Egypt.
A vehicle was spotted at Siuf al Mardi area running in high speed and the driver refused orders to stop.
The armed people on board the vehicle began to exchange fire with the armed force.
The vehicle was cordoned from many sides and the fight led to the killing of six of the kidnappers, including Bakhit, whom the statement says is the leader of the kidnappers, and that he has a Chadian nationality.
The Sudanese army has meantime suffered five injuries with one first lieutenant severely wounded and other sources say he died later.
The army report referred to the involvement of elements from the Sudan Liberation Movement based on the documents that where found with the kidnappers.
Initial information indicates that the abductees are in Chadian territories at Tebba Shagara area, guarded by the remaining thirty kidnappers.
