The displaced people in Abu Shok camp in North Darfur State have asked UNAMID to protect them from repeated attacks.
Speaking to Miraya FM the head of the camp Hussein Isaac Saju said they requested the joint UN/AUforces to reactivate their role in protecting the IDPs or the force should leave the region if the force failed to protect civilians.
On his part, the Deputy Head of UNAMID said the inability of the force to protect civilians was due to lack of forces especially the police units.
In a press release he said UNAMID promised the leadership of the camps that UNAMID would take measures to protect civilians.
