The Juba Teaching Hospital has been treating so far over 500 patients who suffered various gunshots and landmine injures in southern Sudan since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).
Dr. Dario Kuron Lado, Director General at the Juba Teaching Hospital confirmed to Miraya FM that the hospital is still receiving a high number of patients suffering from gunshot or landmine injuries.
He said that the main reason for the high injury rate is attributed to the posession of guns by citizens in southern Sudan.
Dr. Dario Kuron Lado urged the Government of Southern Sudan to exert more efforts in disarming both the civilians and ex-army personnel in order to ensure a safer society.
