LRA won't disarm till ICC charges dropped, LRA official says PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 16 September 2008
The leader of the LRA delegation to the Ugandan peace talks in Juba David Nyekorach Matsanga told the press that they will meet the Chief Mediator Riek Machar on Wednesday "to discuss, plan and organize signing of the final peace deal" which is due to be done in the upcoming days. Matsanga said that General Joseph Kony has accepted to sign the agreement but will not disarm his troops if the Inyernational Criminal Court (ICC) indictment is not removed.

Matsanga warned that "the LRA is ready to defend itself, in case of any attack" and added that signing the pace agreement "does not mean that the LRA is weak militarily."

Another delegation headed by the paramount chief of Acholi tribe is due to arrive in Juba to join the meeting on Wednesday.
