SPLM/A condemns disarmament in Rumbek |

The Sudan People's Liberation Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Oyay Deng, has strongly condemned the actions of the soldiers who carried out the disarmament exercise of Monday 8th September in Rumbek town.
Lt. Gen. Oyay Deng was part of a high level delegation headed by Paul Mayom Minister of Interior in the Government of Southern Sudan, who visited Rumbek on Thursday to investigate the malpractices during disarmament operations.
Speaking to the soldiers at their barracks in Pacong, twelve miles outside Rumbek, Lt. Gen. Deng said that looting of properties and killing of civilians is a shame to the SPLA and such acts damages their image.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mayom who is heading the delegation told Miraya FM, that as part of the outcomes of their meeting with the Governor of the Lakes State, directives have been issued for the arrest of the officers who committed the different crimes and they will face a court martial.
Mr. Mayom said that the delegation will present its preliminary findings on the facts surrounding the incidents and submit its report to the President of the Government of Southern Sudan.
