Sudan Armed Forces Spokesperson Osman Mohamed Al-Aghbash said that the role of the armed forces is currently limited to securing the roads and protecting vehicles after repeated incidents of lootings and ambushes in the region.
Earlier, the Sudan Liberation Movement- Abdel Wahid Nour faction has accused government troops of attacking its locations in Kutum, North Darfur.
In an interview with Miraya FM, the movement's Field Commander Abdullah Suleiman accused the armed forces of launching the attack yesterday morning. He added that casualties included citizens, and did not disclose an official number.
On the other hand, the Investigation Committee set up by the Justice Minister in order to probe into the kalma camp incident in South Darfur State, has started a visit to the region to complete the investigations and collect evidence.
Lat week, clashes erupted between government forces and Kalma camp IDPs, claiming the lives of thirty one displaced person.
The Minister of Justice Abdulbaset Sabdrat said the investigation committee was ordered to begin its work on the ground, adding that another investigation committee began investigations in the State.
Meanwhile, the African Union Chairman, President of Tanzania Jakaya Kikwete arrives in Khartoum today to hold talks with President of the Republic Omer Al Bashir.
The talks are expected to focus on African Union efforts to resolve the crisis between the government and the International Criminal Court.
Last month, the ICC General Prosecutor Louis Moreno-Ocampo has accused President Omer Al Bashir of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Darfur.
