The Sudan People's Liberation Movement suspended the participation of all its representatives in the three Darfur States in protest over what it called the worsening situation in the region, and the Kalma IDP camp incident in which 31 people have died last week.
The SPLM decision included 15 Members of Parliament, and three Darfur State Ministers.
The SPLM Minister of Agriculture in South Darfur State Omer Abdul Rahman said the resumption of their participation in Darfur governments depends on restoring stability in the region.
For his part, the Governor of Western Darfur State Abu Al Gasem Emam admitted the government's shortcoming in maintaining security in Darfur.
Speaking to Miraya FM the governor called on all Darfur officials to perform their duties in full.
In the same context, the Senior Presidential Advisor Minni Minnawi supported the step made by the SPLM constitutors in the Darfur States, noting that all political forces have the right to express their views on what is happening in the region.
On the other hand, Minnawi denied knowledge of any new agreement signed between the Sudan Liberation Movement and the National Congress Party for the implementation of the Abuja Agreement, as indicated by media reports yesterday.
Speaking to Miraya FM, Minnawi explained the matter saying his movement submitted a draft to activate the implementation of the agreement.
Meanwhile, the Rapporteur for DPA implementation Omar Adam Rahma said that the National Congress Party and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement- Minnawi faction have reached a roadmap agreement for the implementation of pending Abuja agreements issues.
Rahma told Miraya FM that several meetings were also held between the two parties on power sharing and security arrangements.
He called on Minnawi to resume his duties from Khartoum, because his presence in Darfur ‘disrupts' the implementation of the agreement, as he put it.
