Friday, 29 August 2008

The international mediator for Darfur, Djibril Bassole called on the parties of the Darfur conflict to ceasefire in the region.

After officially assuming his duties in Al-Fashir, the capital of Northern Darfur State, Mr. Bassole said he will consult all the parties in Darfur for a peaceful resolution, expressing optimism in his efforts.

Commenting on the Kalma incidents, Bassole said he will make efforts to prevent such incidents, neither in Kalma nor in other camps.

In another development, the head of the Sudanese Intelligence service Major General Salah Abdulla Gosh has threatened to kick away international agencies working in Darfur should they go beyond their mandates.

Addressing a workshop on the work of the International Organizations in Khartoum, Mr. Gosh said that the Sudanese Government will not forgive any organization that does not stick to its jurisdictions.

He added that some organizations are working for purposes of intelligence.
