The IDP camps Spokesman in Darfur Hussein Abou Alsharati said that government forces launched an attack on Kalma camp near the town of Nyala in South Darfur, which led to the death of around 48 people and wounded others. Abu Alsharati confirmed to Miraya FM that the government forces are still besieging the camp since today morning.

Meanwhile, demonstrations staged by hundreds of displaced persons are ongoing in protest of the continuous attack, as they put it.

For his part, the Sudan Liberation Movement-Abdel Wahid Nour faction Spokesman Yahya Bolad accused the government of trying to empty the camps of displaced persons forcibly.

Meanwhile, the government of South Darfur state assured that the causalities are not more than twelve, and a hundred wounded.

Police said they were returning fire came from inside the camp.
