FAO arranges training workshop in Rumbek PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 12 August 2008

A three day’s training workshop on crop weather monitoring, production estimation and agricultural statistics has commenced in the Rumbek town, of the Lakes State.

In his opening remark, the Director General of Agriculture in the Ministry of Agriculture in the Lakes State, Isaac Manyuon told the participants that it would be their responsibility to teach the farmers in their communities on how to improve their agricultural production and become self reliant.

The Information and Capacity Building Specialist of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Elijah Mukhala, said that the aim of the training workshop is to develop agricultural statistics for all States in the Southern Sudan.
Mr. Mukhala said that this will enable the Southern Sudan and the State governments to make decisions based on the information available.

The workshop is organized by United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization and the participants are agriculturalists drawn from the Lakes and Unity States.
