The UN Security Council has renewed the mandate of the UN-African Union Mission in Darfur UNAMID for one year from Thursday.
Fourteen of the council's 15 members voted in favor of the resolution as the United States abstained.
In its session on Thursday, the Council also discussed the procedures of the International Criminal Court ICC to seek an arrest warrant against President Omar Al-Bashir.
Meanwhile, a report compiled by Thomas Withington, a defense analyst who specializes in military aviation and air power issues, identified one hundred and forty aircrafts as suitable to aid the UNAMID efforts in Darfur.
The report listed India, Ukraine and NATO countries in particular as best able to provide the helicopters.
Thirty six humanitarian organizations backed the report.
