The First Vice President and President of the Government of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit said that the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement is committed to move forward with the “New Sudan” vision of the late Dr. John Garang De Mabior.   Addressing the pubic in Juba Yesterday during the commemoration of the third anniversary of the death of the SPLM leader, Dr. John Garang,. Kiir called on the people of southern Sudan to stand behind the movement to run for the coming elections.  

Kiir added that he will work with all parts to ensure peace in the south, and create good neighborly relations with the surrounding countries.

The Governor of the Western Bahr Al-Ghazal State, Lt. Gen. Mark Nyipuoch, meanwhile urged citizens while celebrating the commemorations in Wau town, to stand up in the outstanding challenges to realize Dr. John Garang's vision.

Addressing tens of thousands of Wau residents who gathered at the Wau Stadium the Governor Nyipuoch mentioned three key challenges.

Speaking to Miraya FM the leading member in the National Umma Party, Fadalla Burma, said that the death of the Dr. Garang directly affected the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the relations between the SPLM and the northern political parties.  

A leading member in the Popular National Congress Party, Wisal Al-Mahdi, told Miraya FM that Dr. Garang is the only person whom the Sudanese population agreed with.

  

Mrs. Al-Mahdi also said that the death of Dr. Garang negatively affected the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

  

The spokesperson of the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM-United Faction), Essam Al-Haj, meanwhile said that Dr. Garang had a special vision on solving the Darfur problems.

 

Al-Haj said that the absence of Dr. Garang delayed the finding of solution to the Darfur crisis.
