SPLM announces launching country wide elections campaign PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 27 July 2008
The Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) announced that it will soon initiate and commence a mass election campaign across the country as one of the strategies to win the upcoming elections in 2009. The Deputy Secretary General of the SPLM for northern sector Yasir Arman said that the movement is now focusing on two main issues - resolving the issue of Darfur and wining elections next year.

Mr. Arman said that the entire situation in Sudan "is demanding the SPLM to win the elections".

The SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amum earlier urged the National Congress Party to work together with the Government of National Unity to reach an agreement on the issue of the ICC indictment against President Al-Bashir.

The SPLM political bureau meeting in Juba is expected to end today with special attention on the issue of food security in southern Sudan.
