The First Vice President and President of the government of southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, called on the ICC to reconsider its accusations on President Al-Bashir of committing war crimes in Darfur.
Mr. Kiir said that much time is needed for the full implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and negotiations with the armed movements in Darfur.
Kiir concluded his visit to Kampala where he discussed with the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni the Sudan/ICC crises and the issue of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA).
However, the Southern Sudan Democratic Forum reacted against the indictment of President Al-Bashir by the ICC.
The Forum meanwhile urged that investigations should commence on what happened in the South during the civil war.
