The African Union Peace and Security Council today is expected to discuss the crisis between Sudan and the International Criminal Court in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Sudanese Representative at the union, Mohi Aldin Ali Salim, said he hopes the outcome of the meeting will support Sudan’s position.
The Sudanese government meanwhile is exerting diplomatic pressure to seek international support against the request by the International Criminal Court to indict President Bashir.
The Vice President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohammed Taha, on Sunday conveyed a message from President Al-Bashir to the Libyan leader Moammur Al-Khadafi concerning the indictment.
Other prominent Sudan government figures; Dr. Ghazi Salahdin Al-Atabani, Ali Karti and Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie, are expected to visit Iran and Qatar respectively over the indictment.
A prominent member of the United Democratic Front, Peter Abdul Rahman Soli, has said the indictment of president al Bashir by the ICC will not affect the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
A small demonstration against the request by the International Criminal Court to arrest President Omer Al-Bashir has taken place today near the United Nations UNDP in Khartoum and dispersed peacefully.
