Lt. General Salva Kiir Mayardit has warned in a press release that the move of the International Criminal Court to arrest President Al-Bashir will undermine the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, democratic transformation, and the running of timely elections.
Kiir added that the Government of National Unity should reach an understanding with the international community over the legal effects of the issue. He called for a roadmap to solve the Darfur crisis in one week.
Arab Foreign Ministers are meanwhile expected during a meeting they will hold in Cairo today to state their position regarding the request of the ICC General Prosecutor, Luis Moreno Ocampo, to arrest Al-Bashir.
Vice President Ali Osman Taha and Presidential Advisor Mustafa Osman Ismael, are visiting Libya today to discuss the Sudanese-ICC crisis with President Moamer al Qaddafi.
