Ashraf Qazi condemns SPLA's shooting of UN Observers PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 08 July 2008
The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Sudan Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, has condemned the SPLA's shooting of a UN Military Observer and a SAF National Monitor in Agok yesterday. He called upon the SPLM to identify the SPLA soldier or soldiers responsible for wounding the two officers and to bring them to justice.

Mr. Qazi urged the parties not to allow this incident to impede or interfere with implementation of the Abyei roadmap, which he said is so vital to maintaining the CPA process.

Miraya FM’s correspondent said the wounded soldiers were admitted to a UN hospital upon arrival in Kadugli. The U.N. military observer was later flown to Kenya for medical treatment.
