Al-Bashir promises free and fair elections in 2009 PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 07 July 2008

President Omer Al-Bashir has promised to run free and fair elections for the year 2009.

The President was addressing a celebration marking the nineteenth anniversary of the so-called Revolution for National Salvation.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly holds today a historic session to pass the election’s bill for the year 2008 after it was approved in the third reading.

That is despite the objections from the National Democratic Alliance bloc and the Darfur and the East Members of Parliament.

But the Spokesman of the SPLM Bloc, Anyotti Adigo, assured that the bill will be endorsed despite the objections.

Speaking to Miraya FM he said that these powers should have worked to amend the bill when it was in the hands of the committees.
