The SPLA Spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Peter Paryang assured that the SPLA has completed withdrawing its forces from Abyei, and is now moving southwards as stipulated in the Abyei Roadmap Agreement.
He accused Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) of not withdrawing from Abyei according to the deadline mentioned in the recent Abyei Roadmap Agreement.
Maj. Gen. Peter Paryang said that Battalion 31 of the SAF is still inside the town of Abyei, adding that it is already two days behind the deadline.
For its part, the Sudan Armed Forces denied to have violated the Roadmap Agreement.
Lt. Col. Sawarmi Khalid Saad; the Manager of the SAF Spokesperson's office; told Miraya FM that there is coordination between the two parties currently to complete the withdrawal process of both sides.
The Abyei Roadmap Agreement states that SAF and the SPLA should complete withdrawal from Abyei by the end of June, and shall immediately be replaced by the Joint Integrated Units (JIUs) and a special police force
