President Omer Al-Bashir has issued a decree dismissing the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Maj. Abu-Bakr Jaafar Ahmed from his post and appointing Ibrahim Abdullah Abdul-Karim instead.
The President issued another decree setting up a neutral committee to investigate the causes of the recent plane crashes.
He directed the new Director General of the CAA to issue the stoppage of the Antinov and Ilyushin cargo and passenger planes from working in all the airports in Sudan.
These decrees came only few hours after the crash of a cargo plane belonging to Ababil private Aviation Company today near the Khartoum International Airport shortly after taking-off to Juba.
The four crew members who were the only passengers on board were killed immediately.
