11th African Summit kicks off |

At the opening of the 11th African Summit in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Shiekh, Egyptian President Husni Mubarak, said that "There can be no development without peace and no advancement without stability."
He announced that his country cancelled the debts of a number of African countries to Egypt.
President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir met with Libyan President Moammar Al-Ghaddafi on the sideline of the summit.
The two presidents discussed ways to improve the relations between the two countries after the recent tension in addition to how to re-normalize the Sudanese-Chadian relations.
Meanwhile, the Zambian President, Levy Patrick Mwanawasa, was taken to a hospital in Sharm El-Sheikh after suffering an undisclosed illness during a meeting of the New Partnership for African Development before the summit.
A health source at the hospital said that Mr. Mwanawasa had experienced sharp chest pains but was in a stable condition.
