Cargo plane crashes near Khartoum Airport PDF Print E-mail

A cargo plane crashed today shortly after take-off near Khartoum International Airport, killing four crew members.

 

 

Sources said the cargo plane, an Ilyushin 76 belongs to private Ababil company.

Miraya FM's reporter revealed from the scene that the plane was en route to Juba.

Miraya FM spoke to the Spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority on reasons of the crash, he said:

"The plane took off from Khartoum Airport about 7:05 am en route to Juba. After few seconds, apparently, the pilot was unable to ascend so the plane fell down and crashed close to the green square area. There were no passengers onboard, only the crew consisting of 4 Russians was killed as a result of the crash."
