An expert: High safety in Khartoum Airport |

An expert on aviation affairs assured high-level of safety in Khartoum Airport equal to those prevailing in developed countries.

1996: crash of a plane upon emergency landing in a dust storm. All 53 passengers onboard killed.

2003: crash of Sudan Airways' airplane in Portsudan, with 116 onboard in addition to the crew. All the passengers killed except one baby boy.

2008/ May: crash of a plane in south of Sudan in May 24th.
All 24 passengers onboard killed including Southern Sudan's Minister of Defence.

In an exclusive speech to Miraya FM the pilot Imad Addin Othman,
confirmed high level of safety measures in the Air Port, and that
it is in accordance with the European Standards.
Ex-pilot of the Airbus planes, currently director of a private aviation company, ruled out firing of the plane after landing, to insufficiency of safety measures in the airport.
He referred to bad weather conditions to have been a cause of the accident.
Mr. Othman, who witnessed the accident, stressed that all reasons of the accident are only speculations and the investigation committee is the only authority which will disclose the real cause of the accident.
