UN Security Council: Sudan must implement CPA |

The UN Security Council delegation visiting Sudan called on the Sudanese government to implement all the articles of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
Speaking to the Press in Khartoum today after meeting government officials, the UK Ambassador to the UN Security Council, John Sawers, said that there is controversial information on the Abyei issue. Mr. Sawers who is leading the UN Security Council delegation to Sudan said that the recent clashes in Abyei is due to the failure of its protocol.
The Security Delegation met on Tuesday in Juba the First vice President and President of the government of southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit. The delegation is expected to visit Darfur to verify the situation there.Earlier, the UN Security Council continued with its deliberations in Sudan by meeting the Sudanese Foreign Minister of foreign affairs Deng Alore this morning.
The delegation then started closed meetings with Sudanese officials headed by Nafie Ali Nafie.
Meanwhile, the Vice President of the government of southern Sudan, Dr. Rick Machar, said that the joint political committee between the National Congress Party and the SPLM postponed its meeting on Abyei for tomorrow.
Speaking to Miraya FM, Dr. Machar said that the postponement is to render the sub-committee some time to finalize their tasks.
