NCP & National Umma Party sign National Compromise Agreement PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 21 May 2008
The National Congress Party (NCP) and the National Umma Party (NUP) have signed a document named the Convention for National Compromise and Consensus.   President Al-Bashir and Al Sadiq Al-Mahdi signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.

The agreement included points on Darfur conflict, the elections and a comprehensive conference to address the problems of Sudan. President Al-Bashir said dialogue is the only solution for whatever conflict. For his part, Al Sadiq Al-Mahdi stressed the importance of consensus for keeping the unity of the country, but he ruled out participating in the Government of National Unity.
