Lakes State official warns the “Red Group” |

The Commanding Officer of the SPLA Forces in the Lakes State, Brigadier Joshua Konyi, warned an armed group in the State which calls itself the “Red Group” to stop terrorizing Rumbek Citizens.
Speaking at the Celebration marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of SPLA/M, Brig. Konyi said he has obtained detailed information about the Red Group.
The Acting Governor of the Lakes State Awan Guol Riak meanwhile appealed to the citizens of the State to voluntarily hand over their illegal arms to the government.
Celebrations of the SPLA Silver Jubilee also took place in Wau town of the Western Bahr el Ghazal State on Friday.
The celebrations started with a procession comprised of the SPLA, the Joint Integrated Units (JIUs), the South Sudan Police Services, Prisons Officers, Wild Life, Civil Defense and school children on the Bahr el Ghazal University street. The procession ended at the freedom square.
Meanwhile, the UN and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) operating in the Greater Bahr el-Ghazal undertook a joint assessment of the fighting that took place 10 days ago between the Aguok and Apuk communities of Gogrial West and East Counties in the Warrap State.
The Commissioner of Gogrial East County, Deng Marial Deng, said that 1,968 houses were burnt down and 1,575 others looted in four Payams of the County.
