The United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) said that two people were killed and eight others seriously injured after the Sudan Armed Forces attacked the area of Um Sidir in North Darfur State.
In a statement released by the UNAMID, it said that the Mission succeeded in organizing an operation to air lift the wounded civilians.
UNAMID said that the evacuation was conducted at the request of humanitarian organizations and in coordination with the Sudanese authorities. It said that the wounded civilians had been flown to Al-Fashir hospital.
The UNAMID statement said that SLA-controlled area, North East of Kutum, has witnessed repeated aerial attacks and possible fighting between government and rebel forces during the course of the last few days.
However, the Sudan Armed Forces denied carrying out any military attacks and bombing civilians in Um Sidir in Darfur. Speaking to Miraya FM, the spokesman of the Sudan Armed Forces, Brigadier General Mohammed Othman Al-A-Ghbash, said that the clashes in the area were between the Justice and Equality and the Sudan Liberation Movements.
