Plane belonging to Southern Sudan Air Connection company has crashed and burst into flame when approaching Rumbek.
According to a senior air operations official in Rumbek, there is no survivor among the 24 passengers and two crew members who were on board.
The pilot of the Kenya registered plane had told the control tower in Rumbek that one of the engines had developed technical problems and asked for a permission to land in Rumbek.
But a few minutes later the tower lost communications with the plane. A UNMIS official on the ground told Radio Miraya FM that a helicopter was sent to to the crash site and found the plane on fire.
Rescuers are currently transporting bodies to Rumbek town ready to be sent to a morgue in Juba.
