The Governor of Lakes State, Daniel Awet Akot lifted the curfew declared on Saturday off Rumbek and its surroundings.
The curfew was imposed as a result of the clashes between two Dinka clans over the ownership of the Kuoc cattle camp which left 12 people killed and scores injured. In an exclusive interview with Miraya FM, Governor Akot said he summoned the local chiefs from the two warring clans to provide proof of the ownership of the camp.
He appealed to the citizens of Lakes State not to turn to violence to resolve their differences. Governor Akot said that SPLA troops are deployed in the Area to avoid further fighting in the camp. Meanwhile, soldiers are deployed in Rumbek Hospital where the wounded were admitted, in order to prevent this incident from happening again, as Governor Akot said.
