The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement Political Supervisor in Abyei, Edward Lino, said that the Census process in the area has not stopped.
Speaking to Miraya FM, Edward Lino strongly denounced the statements of the Director of the National Population Council that the SPLA interrupted the enumerators work.
Edward Lino pointed out that the SPLM rejected the Census team coming from Al-Mujlad because they “are unqualified to carry out the Census,"as he put it.
Earlier, Dr. Yassin Al-Haj Abdine, the Director of the Central Statistics Bureau and head of the National Census Commission that supervises the Census in Sudan, said that the Census process in Abyei had stopped due to SPLA's interruption of the process.
Speaking to Miraya FM, he said that the Abyei administration did not commit to a previous agreement on conducting the Census in the area by joint teams.
He said this matter will be raised to the presidency to decide on.
