The chairman  of Southern Sudan commission for census, statistics and evaluation Isaiah Chol Aruai appealed to citizens of Southern Sudan to be patient waiting for the enumerates in their locations.    

He urged citizens to corporate with enumerates during the census exercise and said that people should resume their regular activities, while making appointments with enumerates.
 Speaking to MirayaFM, Mr. Aruai also said that the population census is going on smoothly without any major problems and he urged citizens to answer correctly the required information.  The Deputy Commissioner of Southern Sudan Police Service, Lt. Gen. David Akuei Okur has confirmed that census is being conducted amid security concerns in Upper Nile State and other parts of Southern Sudan.

Mr Okur was speaking during Miraya FM’s Sudan tonight program aimed at discussing the role of the Southern Sudan Police Service during the census exercise.
 

The fifth population and housing census is continuing smoothly in most of the Sudanese states for the second day.
 

However, a number of demonstrations in protest against the census took place in Kalma, Abo Shok and Zamzam displaced people camps in Darfur.
Speaking to Miraya FM Hussein Isaac Sajo, one of the chiefs of Abo Shok camp in north Darfur, confirmed that huge numbers of displaced people took part in the protests. 

The SPLM in Kordofan reiterated from its position of not participating in the census.The decision came after a long negotiations process led by the governor of the Blue Nile state Malik Agaar and the SPLM leader, Ahmed Haroon a leader at the national congress party and some members of the census committee.


Meanwhile, the governor of the Northern Darfur state, Othman Mohammed Yousif Kibir, said that the census exercise in his state excludes the areas under the control of the armed movements that did not sign the Abuja peace agreement.
