Reports from Juba say that the Southern Sudan Council of Ministers is still discussing on releasing a decision about the presidency’s proposal to conduct the census as from the 22nd of this month.
According to a source in the GoSS, today’s meeting will decide the date of the census. However, the minister of information and broadcasting in the GoSS, Gabriel Chang, declined to guess what the meeting will come out with.
Meanwhile, the governor of the Upper Nile State Gulwak Deng Garang said that the Government of Southern Sudan did not notify him officially about its resolution to postpone the census.
Speaking to Miraya FM, he said that he knew this from the media. He added that his state was fully prepared for the census despite the security situation there. However, Gulwak Deng said that he is waiting for instructions on the new time table for the Census exercise.
